Regardless of what you think about “wardrobe diarists”—a phrase I saw in a magazine that I think was meant meant for certain someones to see—I just want to take a moment to consider the moral dilemma—in the Economics 101 sense of the word—they have to face when accepting endorsement deals. I get that everyone’s all up in their grill—yes, this entry is raw and unedited stream-of-consciousness brain fart—about how local fashion blogs are starting to look all the same. But I want to say to their critics who I think are mostly fashion-inclined bloggers themselves is this: Would you—or more pressingly, do you consider your personal aesthetic before taking the deal or do you just take it and tell yourself you’re gonna wear it your way? How about the brand—its ideals and what it stands for? How about the fact that the online shop offering it to you has the same products with, like, 10 other online shops (so they clearly have one supplier: China?)?
A friend got me to watch The Beautiful Life recently. It’s only 5 episodes so even if it wasn’t that interesting, Mischa Barton was pretty enough to keep me hooked. Anyway, that got me thinking about how models on the show have very little power when it comes to choosing the jobs they take on; I just thought it mirrored our local fashion blogging scene. Or not. I’m not picking a side or pointing a finger. I just wanted to raise a question.
Also, we can’t celebrate brands like H&M and Zara without realizing that it really is helping homogenize the world. Should we talk about food blogs next? Haha!
Some Nights - Fun.
I could use some friends for a change… Some nights I’m still not sure what I stand for. What do I stand for? Most nights, I don’t know.
Gifted with an abundance of spare time—which sharply contrasts the number of projects I have lined up for me this summer—I have decided to go on and update my Tumblr. No, there is nothing special to post about. After having my fun at the beach—Zambales, Boracay, Cebu, Bohol—things have slowed down and I am resigned to a summer of helping out in the family business. This means days in the factory, hours spent performing tasks I may not necessarily enjoy. I tried my hardest to turn to Pinterest, but I just didn’t like how it needed you to link it with another social network account. So I gave up on it.
But before anything. Why, why post? At first it was the BFA student in me who was told time and time again how important it is to have an online presence. Now, I really don’t know. I don’t see how this entry is going to book me a job. Maybe it’s time to post screencaps of the watermark I made for Kryz? More importantly, how long to wait for projects that don’t pan out? Now that’s a question I really need an answer to. Or not.
If I sold tribal stickers—from a project that didn’t pan out—would anyone be interested in buying? LOL.
Anonymous asked: JELITO
Oh, wow. Talagang anon eh. OK, so Jelito has got to be one of the most soft-spoken guys I have ever met. Oddly enough, everyone who has entered their name—entered their name? Kunwari Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire?—is someone I met through Stache—click the link on my sidebar if you please. :) So, back to Jelito. He was one of the people I went to my first, the last ever Meiday with. We didn’t finish the entire thing, though; we went to High Street. I was wearing this extremely printed sleepsuit—the theme was 80’s—and so I decided I needed to go home to change. On the way home, Ellie/Ecks got a text from him saying that Jelito needed to go home because he was uncomfortable in his green long-sleeve polo. The next day, I texted Ellie, asking why Jelito left so suddenly, but—surprise, surprise!—I accidentally sent it to Jelito. Awkward! Then he stopped replying. Even more awkward! (But Ellie said he just ran out of load.) End of story.

After getting lost with Koji (we couldn’t find Glass Garden), we arrived at Maine’s debut only to find out I wasn’t on the list. :| But I got in and flicked everyone with bits of food—mostly chocolate from the fountain. Fun times! :D

My god. You guys reply fast. So I’ll make this shorter. Umm… Koji is a friend from UP. There was this one time I was in Zara looking through the sale rack—because, yes, I am cheap like that—and I bumped into Koji. He was wearing this vintage-looking striped Dockers(?) polo and cuffed colored chinos with boat shoes, while I was in my uniform of t-shirt, cutoffs and plimsolls, I think. Quite embarrassing. ALSO, he takes really good photos!
